Candidate statement:

This bill is based on work I did as a City Council Member in the City of Redmond, WA where I worked closely with Redmond Police Department. That work created a policy that kept data privacy top of mind and required explicit permission from the police chief in order to access ALPR data, a requirement that all inquiries must be tied to an active open case, a requirement of a case number with each inquiry, and required compliance with WA state law and the Keep Washington Working Act. I worked with Sen Trudeau prior to the introduction of this bill in 2026.
